Although it doesn't follow the ARP 2500 module exactly it does pull together some interesting features. It has an inbuilt VCA and you can mix between two audio inputs. The Kybd, CV1 and CV2 inputs are all identical CV inputs where Kybd acts purely on the filter cutoff whereas CV1 and CV2 can act both on the filter and the VCA. So you can apply a single incoming envelope to both VCA and VCF or combine modulations into interesting shapes. And ultimately it sounds really good. The colours on the knobs are also pretty awesome and looks great in the rack.

Great Behringer Module 1006!

I recently installed my new Filtamp Module 1006 in my Behringer rack and linked it to the Behringer Sequential Controller 960 via the cv 1-in gate of the 1006 and the Behringer System 150 module of the System 100 through the Behringer System 55 923 LP HP filters module to audio input B on the 1006 module. In audio input A of the 1006 came a cable out of the other lfo-output of the 150-module. I tried different waveforms and as soon I turned open the filterknob of the 1006 module the great sound and soundrange came out in full splendor! In combination with the resonance knob a very nice soundpalette was achieved! It's very clear that Behringer did a wonderful job again! Just a minor thing is that the vca-knob may not be turned full open to avoid overdriven sounds. I recommand this filtermodule as a first buy as you can root also external gear through this great module! Awesome!

Guter ARP Sound, mit Einschränkungen, dafür günstig!

Die meisten 24dB Lowpassfilter klingen auf dem ersten Blick (beim ersten Hinhören genauer gesagt) ziemlich ähnlich, wenn man eine Sägezahnwelle durchjagt und mit dem Cutoff Regler spielt. Man muß sich näher mit dem Filter beschäftigen, um zu wissen, wie man ihn einsetzen wird. Wie klingt er durch eine Hüllkurve gesteuert? Wenn man ihn übersteuert? Usw, usw... der 1006 klingt durch eine Hüllkurve gesteuert sehr gut und trifft den Klangcharacter eines ARP synths recht gut. Ich habe einen echten ARP Odyssey und hatte auch einen Axxe.

Der Soundcharakter des 1006 gefällt mir. Was mir weniger gefällt ist Folgendes: bei voll aufgedrehter Resonanz hat man ja eine Sinuswelle, die über den gesamten Frequenzbereich vorhanden sein sollte. Dies ist leider nicht der Fall. Bei meinem Exemplar ertönt die Resonanz nur bis 720 Hz. Darunter kommt nichts mehr. Egal ob per Regler oder CV-Steuerung. Das ist nicht nur mir aufgefallen, sondern wird u. a. auch bei YT diskutiert. Dort behauptet jemand, die Entwickler hätten gesagt, dies sei beim originalen ARP2500 Filtamp Modul auch so, und es sei Detailtreue. Wie auch immer, tiefe Bassdrums aus Filter-Reso, oder tiefere Sinus-Drones fallen somit flach. Wie gesagt, es geht nur um das Pfeifen der Resonanz - also Resonanzparameter nur erhöhen zur Klangänderung geht natürlich im gesamten Frequenzbereich.

Bei dem eingebauten VCA hört man das Signal vom Filter leise noch durch, selbst wenn der GAIN Regler auf null ist (merkt man, wenn die Resonanz voll aufgedreht ist). Vielleicht ist mein Exemplar nicht exact justiert. Ich werde mich erkundigen, was die Trimmpotis auf der Platine bewirken.

Die Potischaft ist nicht mit der Frontplatte verschraubt, wie etwa bei Doepfer-Modellen, sondern das Poti wurde direkt auf die Platine gelötet. Es wackelt zwar nichts, aber das kann sich nach intensivem Gebrauch ändern. Es gibt aber ein Gewinde an der Schaft. Wenn man Muttern anbringen will, dann auch hinter der Frontplatte, sonst ist der Regler nur druck- aber nicht zuggesichert.

Fazit: ich werde das Modul behalten. Der Sound gefällt mir, für percussive ARP Sounds trotz des Reso-Mankos gut zu gebrauchen. Die Optik gefällt mir echt gut. Die Potis bekommen von mir Muttern zugunsten der Langlebigkeit. Und hoffe, daß Modular-Freaks irgendwann eine Bastelanleitung präsentieren, die den Resonanz-Bug löst.
