Not for heavy hitters but still a solid budget e-drum
Kvarlo 22.03.2023
I have bought this drum for my home studio. I live in the apartment so I have to keep things quiet. This is an ok drum in it's budget range. But don't expect a superb product because it's not. The module sound/kits are cheesy (but let's be honest - so is 99% of other modules), so I recommend using the VSTs. With this kit you get a free BFD Player + basic library (Mahogany Kit). The VST is also ok, but nothing spectacular (has basic options for mix, but honestly - that's all you need, especially if you just want to jam out or you don't want to spend an eternity to mix your own drums in the song). The only downside of this VST is that it has some kind of "humanize" option added to it which I couldn't turn off, so the hi-hat varies in loudness when you play it. I guess they didn't want to have that machine gun effect, but they got carried away with it.
The registration process of the BFD Player and it's library was a bit confusing, a lot of UX conundrums (pun intended) but managed to solve it with the help of the dev team. If you just want to plug and play - this drumkit is a good solution. I'm a heavy hitter (played acoustic drums) so I've noticed that the hihat cymbal glue doesn't hold anymore (after one week of playing), but it still works fine.
Overall this is a solid budget e-drumkit for beginners + you get a solid VST that is plug and play - already programmed for this alesis kit.

If you have problems registering the library in the BFD Player:
1. Register your drumkit at Alesis/inMusic site, you will be provided with the BFD Player and Mahogany library direct download links + serials)
2. Install BFD Player, open, register
2. Install the Mahogany library (around 15 gigs)
3. Open the BFD Player and go to "Register Serial", it will ask you to enter the (Mahogany Library) serial which you can also get on your inMusic profile. Don't put the BFD Player serial - put the Mahogany serial. I know it seems simple but it wasn't. I was expecting to add library first and then serial, but no.

Excellent e-kit to get started on drums
Fred. M 24.03.2024
I chose this kit to get started on drums.
The mesh heads are really cool and quite large, they're very comfortable to play. The module comes with many features (metronome, play-alongs, ..) which is nice, although I don't use them much.
The main negative aspect in my opinion is the quality of the voices, they really sound cheap. Fortunately the kit comes with BFD3, so you can connect the kit to a laptop and get decent voices.
